AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN #0849 08-02-93
POWER EXEC WITH VARIOUS MEMORY MAPPINGS
PROBLEM: The Power Exec will not display a consistent upper memory
mapping with expanded memory managers while using PCMCIA
drivers.
CAUSE: The Power Exec PCMCIA driver uses several 16KB memory windows
within the D000h-DFFFh range. This will result in various
memory mappings each time the system is powered on and the
memory locations are checked.
SYSTEMS
AFFECTED: All Power Exec systems.
SOLUTION: Exclude the D000h-DFFFh memory range on the Expanded Memory
Manager device statement command line. This will provide the
system with a stable memory range and memory mappings will now
be consistent.
CAUTION: In no case will AST Research, Inc. be liable for damage to the
system or loss of data caused by improper or faulty installation of
this file.
