TITLE Adventure! 2XX/4XX and random lockups in Windows 95
ISSUE
Early versions of the pre-installed S3 video driver have been
found to cause lockups in some applications. The pre-installed
driver in Display Properties is listed as "S3 Inc. Trio64V+
(1-27-1997)".
To determine if your system may experience this issue, follow the
procedure outlined below:
1. Open the Display Properties by right clicking an empty or
open spot on the desktop and click on Properties. You will
then be presented with the Display Properties window.
2. In the Display Properties window click on the Appearance
tab.
3. Attempt to create a custom color by selecting Color, then
choose Other.
4. Click on the newly opened muliti-colored bitmap. The
system will then lock up.
5. The only means of recovering the system is to shut down
using the power switch (CTRL-ALT-DEL will not work.)

Utilize one of the following procedures to resolve this issue:
I. Choose another driver from the list of compatible drivers.
1. Open the Display Properties window as explained above.
2. Click on the settings tab.
3. Click on the Advanced Properties button.
4. Click on Adapter tab.
5. Click on the change button.
6. Select the "S3 Trio64V+ (8-24-1996)" entry.
7. Click OK and follow the instructions given in the prompts.
II. Download and install the latest driver for this video adapter
from S3's WEB site. The latest version of the driver is available
from S3 at their website at:
http://www.S3.com
The current version of this driver, dated August 19, 1997 at the
time of this writing, will correct the issue. After downloading
the new driver follow the instructions provided by S3 to properly
install the new driver.
